When life feels overwhelming, Counselling can help!

Counselling Approaches

Below are some of the counselling approaches I may draw on during our sessions. This list isn’t exhaustive, but it gives you a general sense of the ideas and tools we might use together.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps us look at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are connected. Together, we gently notice unhelpful patterns and work on practical ways to shift them, so you can feel more balanced and in control in everyday life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is about learning to sit more kindly with difficult thoughts and emotions, rather than fighting them. We focus on what really matters to you and take small, meaningful steps toward living in line with your values.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

SFBT focuses on what’s already working and what you’d like more of. Instead of spending lots of time on the problem, we look for strengths, possibilities and practical steps to help you move forward.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps you slow down and become more present. It supports self-compassion, emotional regulation and resilience, and can be as simple as learning to pause, breathe and respond rather than react.
